On Friday, March 6, Brandon Payne—a standout from Millington Central Middle High School—and his college team, the Belhaven Blazers, were defeated 69-63 by the St. Thomas Celts in the NCAA Division III Basketball Tournament.
The teams faced off for the first time in the tournament during a 7 p.m. game at Jerabeck Athletic Center.
