Memphis women’s golf team concluded the Great River Cup in Monroe, Louisiana, finishing tied for sixth place among eight teams. The event, held at Windance Country Club, used a match-play format instead of the usual stroke play, with each school sending five players to compete in individual matches.
The Tigers faced Central Arkansas in their first round and lost 3.5-1.5. Memphis earned one win and one tie during that matchup, while three players were defeated in their matches.
In the second round against Arkansas State, Memphis experienced a similar result with another 3.5-1.5 loss. Garfoot secured a victory and Swathwood halved her match, but the remaining Tigers were edged out.
Memphis finished on a positive note by defeating James Madison 3.5-1.5 in the final round. Swathwood led with a decisive win, supported by victories from Wilson and Garfoot; Jongpipittaporn tied her match while Cottriel narrowly lost.
Individually, Jongpipittaporn competed outside of team scoring in the opening round but was defeated 4&2. Todd played as an individual in the last two rounds and achieved consecutive wins.
Host schools Louisiana Monroe and Southern Miss organized the event, which included teams such as Little Rock, Missouri State, Central Arkansas, Arkansas State, and James Madison.
The Tigers are scheduled to return to competition March 8-10 at the SoCal Spring Invitational in Camarillo, California.
