Memphis women’s golf finished in eighth place at the Nashville Invitational, following strong performances in the second and third rounds on March 24.
The team improved after an opening round that placed them outside the top ten, ultimately posting a total score of +45 over three rounds. This result reflects a significant effort by the Tigers to climb up the leaderboard during the final two days of play.
A sophomore led Memphis with consistent scores across all three rounds at General’s Retreat Golf Course, finishing tied for 16th with a total of +7. A freshman rebounded from an initial round of 7-over-par to post a combined score of +12 over her last two rounds, securing 29th place overall. Two other team members also tied for 32nd place with scores of +12 after three rounds.
After recording only the eleventh-best score in the opening round, Memphis posted one of the top four scores in round two and had the eighth-best score in the final round. The team leaderboard was topped by Delaware (+18), followed by Lipscomb (+23) and Ball State (+25). Other teams included Seattle (+28), Longwood (+37), Northern Illinois (+40), UTRGV (+42), Belmont (+50), Austin Peay (+52), North Alabama (+60), Eastern Washington (+78), Loyola-Chicago (+81), Bellarmine (+87), Dayton (+89) and Tennessee State (+112).
The Tigers are scheduled to compete next at the ECU Ironwood Invitational in Greenville, North Carolina from April 5-7.
