Memphis women’s golf finished in a tie for fifth place at the Southern California Invitational, which concluded on March 10 at Sterling Hills Golf Club in Camarillo, California. The team posted a three-round total of 44-over par to secure their spot among the top teams in the 15-team field.
The Tigers improved their performance over each round, starting with a +36 in the opening round and following up with scores of +5 and +3. Their final round score of 3-over par was the second-best team round of the day, helping them climb into a three-way tie for fifth place alongside Murray State and North Dakota State.
Individually, Memphis had several notable performances. One player led the team by finishing at 9-over par and placing 19th overall, highlighted by a second-round score of 1-over 72 and tying for fourth in the field with 37 pars. Another Tiger finished close behind in 21st place at 10-over par, tying for fourth with 11 birdies during the tournament and recording an even score on par-3 holes—one of the best marks among all competitors.
A third Memphis golfer recorded the team’s lowest single round with a final-round score of 1-under 70, finishing tied for 23rd at 12-over par. This player also made an eagle on the par-5 eighteenth hole during round two, matching others for most eagles in the event. Two more Tigers rounded out Memphis’s lineup by finishing tied for forty-ninth at eighteen over par; one shot a strong second-round score of one-over-par seventy-two while another posted consistent rounds in the low seventies over the last two days.
As a group, Memphis ranked third among all teams with thirty-six birdies and placed fifth both in par-four scoring and average on par-three holes. Nebraska won the tournament title at ten over par, followed by Notre Dame (+23) and CSU Northridge (+28). The Tigers are scheduled to compete next at The Nashville Invitational hosted by Lipscomb on March 23-24.
