Shelby County Sheriff Floyd Bonner, Jr., along with Chief Jailer Kirk Fields, and members of the Command Staff, attended the 21st Annual Tennessee Police Memorial ceremony, held May 10 on the Tennessee Legislative Plaza in Nashville to honor 19 fallen officers from across the state. Corrections Deputy Lakiesha Tucker, Corrections Deputy Willie Lois Dortch, and Law Enforcement Deputy Ray McCrary, Jr. were the three Shelby County Sheriff’s Office deputies who died in the line of duty in 2021. The SCSO Pipes & Drums performed at the ceremony.
SCSO personnel were also accompanied by the group, Concerns of Police Survivors (COPS) West Tennessee Chapter Board members Tora Newton, Alfredia Taylor, and Christy Sheffield. The group and families headed to Washington, D.C. for National Police Week when these officers’ names will be engraved at the Law Enforcement Officers Memorial.
