Shelby County Sheriff's Office Deputy of the Month for May 2022 Patrolman Michael Yzaguirre

037e

The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Services honors deputies who have distinguished themselves in their daily duties.  On June 14 at the SCSO substation, Assistant Chief Newt Schaeffer and Captain John Rada awarded a plaque and citation to Patrolman Michael Yzaguirre, honoring him as Deputy of the Month for May 2022.

During the month of May, Charlie (night) Shift Deputy Yzaguirre made several traffic stops which resulted in narcotics arrests and seizures of weapons and drug proceeds.  One of the stops yielded felony drug arrests for possession with intent to Manf/Del/Sell and a semi-automatic pistol was seized along with approximately $2,000 in U.S. currency.  Based on Deputy Yzaguirre’s stop and initial investigation, a search warrant was obtained for the suspect’s hotel room which yielded additional narcotics and drug proceeds.  An additional stop resulted in another felony drug arrest and seizure of a firearm.  Deputy Yzaguirre consistently leads his shift in self-initiated activity and written reports.  Deputy Yzaguirre is to be commended for his proactive approach to policing by looking beyond the stop to abate criminal activity in Shelby County.

Deputy Yzaguirre has been with the Sheriff’s Office since February 2020.  He also serves as a Crisis Intervention Team member.  In the picture of four (from left) Capt. John Rada, Lt. Jay Wildermuth, Patrolman Michael Yzaguirre, and Assistant Chief Newt Schaeffer.
