The University Of The South Women's Basketball Falters in Monday Night Decision to Berea

The University of the South women's basketball team fell 75-57 to Berea College in a Monday night contest inside Juhan Gymnasium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-Sewanee got out to a fast start, scoring the first six points of the game and nine of the first 11 after a triple by Lilly Phillips gave the Tigers the 9-2 lead. 

-Berea would chip away and retake the lead with 2:38 left in the opening stanza, but an Olivia Falvey and a triple by Phillips gave the Purple and White a 16-13 lead with 1:44 left in the period. 

-The Mountaineers would reclaim the lead with a 3-pointer by Jayden Merriweather at the end of the period, but the Tigers started the second period thanks to six straight points by Sydney Wright. 

-Despite Sewanee having the 22-18 advantage, Berea immediately wiped it away with an 11-0 run. The Tigers did cut the deficit to one thanks to a three-point play by Kayla Antoine, but a 12-7 run by the visitors made the lead six, 41-35, at the break. 

-Berea's full-court press heated up in the third quarter, as they started the period on a 12-0 run to make it an 18-point affair, 53-35. 

SEWANEE KEY STATISTICS
-Kayla Antoine led the Tigers with 16 points on 6-of-12 shooting with nine rebounds. 

-Camryn Broussard and Cydney Wright each had nine points. Off the bench, Olivia Falvey corralled eight rebounds. 

BEREA KEY STATISTICS
-Drea Satori led all scorers with 19 points thanks to 7-of-10 from the field and added four boards and three assists. 

-Destiny Combs scored 12 points and picked up 10 boards.
