Shelby County Sheriff's Office National Correctional Officers Week

180e

Each year since 1984, the first full week in May is recognized as National Correctional Officers Week, commemorating the contributions of correctional officers and personnel who work in jails, prisons, and community corrections across the country.

Please join the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office as we celebrate National Correctional Officers Week May 1-7 as we honor the sacrifice and dedication of our corrections deputies and civilian personnel serving in the Main Jail, Jail East, and the Juvenile Court Detention Center.

“Our Corrections Deputies play an integral and important role in our Criminal Justice system,” said Shelby County Sheriff Floyd Bonner, Jr. “I owe my deepest appreciation to them for working under some of the most challenging conditions and pressing through these unprecedented times.”

“The professionalism, dedication and courage exhibited throughout their performance of the demanding and often crucial roles deserve our utmost respect,” said Sheriff Bonner. “The important work of correctional officers often goes without the recognition it deserves. It is appropriate that we honor their many contributions. When you see a Corrections Deputy this week, be sure to thank them for their unwavering dedication to our agency and all they do to serve the citizens of Shelby County. Because of them, our jail is a shining example for others to emulate.”
