The names were read aloud for 113 law enforcement officers in our local area who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our community.  This included 70 names from Memphis Police Department, 17 from Shelby County Sheriff’s Office, one from Bartlett Police Department, one from Collierville Police Department, five from Tipton County Sheriff’s Office, one from Millington Police Department, six from Desoto County Sheriff’s Office, seven from Fayette County Sheriff’s Office, one from Southaven Police Department, one from Tennessee Bureau of Investigations, and three from Tennessee Highway Patrol.

Also participating in today’s ceremony were the SCSO Pipes and Drums, SCSO Honor Guard, and recruits from MPD and SCSO standing in formation.  There was a Twenty-One Gun Salute from the MPD TACT unit, the MPD Honor Guard played Taps, and there was a helicopter flyover in honor of the 113 fallen officers.
