Shelby County Sheriff's Office Training Academy Graduation

The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office held a graduation ceremony last night at the SCSO Training Academy for 18 new members of Emergency Services. Shelby County Sheriff Floyd Bonner, Jr. congratulated this group of volunteers, thanking them for their dedication during their training and future service to the Volunteers Services Bureau. Sheriff Bonner, along with Emergency Services Assistant Chief David Barnett and Chief Inspector Wes Banks, awarded each graduate their official ES badges. Emergency Services was created in 1966 consisting of several rescue units that were operating within Shelby County. “This specialized group of volunteers works every day to help save the lives of people needing medical attention,” explained Director Jason Bartlett. “These volunteers patrol the streets of Shelby County to assist with traffic crashes, respond to medical emergencies, and conduct search and rescue missions.”
