SCSO Patrol Services honors deputies who have distinguished themselves in their daily duties. On August 10 at the SCSO substation, Assistant Chief Newt Schaeffer and Captain John Rada awarded a plaque and citation to Patrolman Gregory Stratman, honoring him as Deputy of the Month for July 2022. During the month of July, Deputy Gregory Stratman was involved in a multitude of incidents which were noteworthy. A bereaved citizen sent an appreciation letter to Sheriff Floyd Bonner's office regarding Deputy Stratman's actions while at her residence just after her husband had passed away. The citizen advised Deputy Stratman showed great compassion and empathy towards the family during a difficult time. In another instance, Deputy Stratman conducted a traffic stop of a stolen vehicle, which led to the arrest of the driver for felony theft and a felony narcotics arrest for possession of Fentanyl. Deputy Stratman also assisted on the scene of a shooting incident where an individual was shot and in need of immediate medical attention. He provided critical medical aid for several minutes until relieved by EMS personnel. Deputy Stratman serves on the afternoon shift and has been with the Sheriff’s Office since September 2019.
