A graduation ceremony was held November 10 for participants in the fall 2022 “Sheriff Floyd Bonner Jr.’s Citizens' Academy.” Dozens of Shelby County citizens attended sessions twice a week for four weeks, which included lectures, discussions and in-person visits to various Sheriff’s Office bureaus, including patrol and corrections. “The goal of the Citizens’ Academy is not only to give the citizens of Shelby County a deeper understanding of who we are and what we do,” said Sheriff Floyd Bonner, Jr., “but to also create a stronger relationship between the Sheriff’s Office and the community we serve.”
Congratulations to the following: Stephanie Beasley, Reginald Boyce, Paul Cade, Victor Cortese, Bobby Griggs, Vanessa Henderson, Curtis Johnson, Jessica Lindsay, Ranorise McAllister, Chad McKinnie, Meghan Medord. Also, Carolyn Michael-Banks, John Rada, Sr., Granville Renfrow, April Richardson, Adrian Stitt, Sheryl Sullivan, Terry Sullivan, Cammie Thomas, Andrea Warling, Clayton Warling, John David White, and Cynthia Williams.
This year's Citizens' Academy included a hybrid model where participants could attend in person or virtually. The next Citizens’ Academy is planned for spring 2023.
