Shelby County Sheriff's Office participated in the Feed the Needy Thanksgiving Campaign Initiative

The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office participated in the Nov. 22 Feed the Needy Thanksgiving Campaign initiative, which provides resources and food to more than 3,800 households in impoverished neighborhoods in Memphis and the Midsouth during the Thanksgiving holidays. Ruth Rawlings-Banks, Chairman/CEO of Feed the Needy, organized the 28th annual event at the Shelby County Schools building on Jackson Avenue.

Corrections Deputy recruits and Law Enforcement Deputy recruits began working before the crack of dawn to trucks and prepare delivery of goods to locations across Shelby County. The SCSO team, spearheaded by Sergeant Richard Blair and Officer Tora Newton, included dozens of law enforcement and correctional deputies, recruits, civilian employees, and volunteers. They delivered more than 400 boxes to various non-profits, churches, and homes.
