The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office held a graduation ceremony for the newest members of the 101st session Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) on December 2 at the SCSO Training Academy. This particular program included eight graduates from the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office – Corrections Deputy Lt. Todd Connolly, and law enforcement deputies Brett Barnett, Jeremy Goods, Andrew Hightower, Richard McClain, Allyson Meadors, Larry Neal, and Reed Phillips. Another 13 attended the one-week training from other local agencies – Bartlett Police Dept., Atoka Police Dept., Memphis Police Dept., Collierville Police Dept., Germantown Police Dept., and the VA Police Dept. Shelby County Sheriff Floyd Bonner, Jr. and Sharon Gartrell of NAMI Memphis spoke during the ceremony and thanked the officers for their dedication and service. The CIT program is a community partnership of law enforcement, mental health and addiction professionals, people who live with mental illness and/or addiction disorders, their families, and other advocates.
